Challenge Coin Tradition

The tradition of the Challenge Coin stems from the U.S. Military.  Generals would have unique coins made with their command logo and often serial numbered (Serial numbered ones are more valuable).  They would give the coins to outstanding Soldiers as an on the spot reward.  Coins were a cherished prize to obtain.  Often, a General's coin was worth a complimentary beer or soda at the on post club if the coin was presented to the management.  Another tradition is; if a Soldier was awarded and in possession of a coin and knows of a fellow soldier who had also received one, the Soldier could be challenged the to present his or her coin.  If the Soldier challenged can not produce his or her awarded coin, the soldier was responsible for buying the next round of drinks.  Thus came the term Challenge Coin.

Below you will find the locations of hidden geocaches containing Ranger Outfitters Challenge Coins.  The locations of each coin is given and they are worth cash, redeemable at Ranger Outfitters toward purchases or you can challenge the owner for a drink or soda.

Each coin is serial numbered.
